Liverpool are reportedly willing to spend as much as £43m on Argentine defender Cristian Romero this summer transfer window to add further to their defensive ranks.
The Reds have already signed Ibrahima Konate to add to their options for the defensive third this summer but it sounds as though they are still on the look out for more.
That’s according to AS at least who, via the Hard Tackle, suggest that the Reds are willing to spend up to £43m on the player as they look to beat Manchester United to his signing.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
It’s hard to see such a transfer going through right now, in all truth.
Liverpool have just spent £34m on Ibrahima Konate, it’s surely unlikely to see more big money spent on another defender when other areas of the pitch probably now need more attention.
A new attacker and a new midfielder would be good ideas this summer and the Reds would be wise to focus on spending their money there first and foremost ahead of another new defender.
Ultimately, it’s another report, though, and we’ll have to see where it leads if anywhere.
