Liverpool and Arsenal are among five Premier League clubs reportedly in talks with the representatives of Bournemouth’s rising star Dean Huijsen, according to The Athletic.
The 19-year-old centre-back is fast becoming one of the most sought-after young defenders in Europe.
Huijsen only joined Bournemouth from Juventus in July 2024 for €15.2 million, but his immediate impact in the Premier League has drawn widespread attention, both for his defensive capabilities and his ball-playing style.
A key factor fueling speculation is Huijsen’s €50 million release clause, which is now well-known among top clubs in England and beyond.
As per the report, Liverpool are among the 5 Premier League clubs who have held meetings with his camp.
This comes after recent reports claiming that the Reds have also made initial contact with Bournemouth regarding a possible transfer.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot is believed to be a strong admirer of Huijsen’s profile and is determined to bring him to Anfield.
However, the Reds face stiff competition from Arsenal and European giants Real Madrid, among others.

Huijsen began his career in Spain before moving to Juventus in 2021, where he impressed in the youth setup and made appearances for Juventus Next Gen.
He made his Serie A debut in 2023 against AC Milan, followed by a loan spell at Roma, where he continued his development.
Upon returning to Juventus, he opted for a move to the Premier League and signed a six-year deal with Bournemouth, quickly becoming a key figure in Andoni Iraola’s backline.
He scored his first goal for the club in a 1–0 win over Tottenham in December and has gone on to make 29 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice and registering one assist.
Standing at 6’5”, Huijsen is a commanding presence in the air. But what truly sets him apart is his technical ability and passing range.
His comfort in possession, ability to break lines with progressive passes, and willingness to carry the ball forward make him a perfect fit for possession-based systems.
That makes him particularly appealing to both Liverpool and Arsenal, who value defenders that can contribute to build-up play and initiate attacks from deep.
With several top-tier clubs circling and Bournemouth aware of his soaring market value, the race to sign Dean Huijsen could become one of the defining transfer sagas of the summer.
Whether Liverpool can edge out their rivals—and whether Bournemouth are open to cashing in so soon—remains to be seen.
