Transfer News: Liverpool looking to lure Sofyan Amrabat amid Tottenham Hotspur interest

Liverpool are looking to lure ACF Fiorentina and Morocco international Sofyan Amrabat by offering him a major pay rise amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

The defensive midfielder has caught the eye with his performance at the World Cup in Qatar and now has interest from two heavyweights of the Premier League.

It is understood that the 26-year-old earns €1.8 million-a-year in Italy and the Reds are likely to offer way more should he move to the Merseyside club. This could tempt the player to make a move according to Corriere dello Sport (h/t Mirror).

Spurs were interested in the midfielder last year, but despite many speculations, no deal could be reached. It seems the north London club have continued their interest.

Antonio Conte needs to add reinforcements in the middle of the park. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur have been phenomenal for us this season, but there has been a lack of competition from the substitutes.

The likes of Yves Bissouma and Oliver Skipp have struggled to provide competition, leaving the boss with no choice but to start the duo of Hojbjerg and Bentancur in almost all the games this season.

Adding a player like Amrabat could help solve this issue. Also, the second half of the season is packed with fixtures and Conte will need top-class players in his squad, both on and off the pitch.

Spurs fans would back the club to match the wages that the Reds could offer the midfielder. We are also in better form than them in the league this season and Conte could use this to add weight to our approach.

But the Reds’ ageing and injury-prone midfield could be a factor to consider for him, given that can offer him more chances of becoming a regular starter there in the near future.

It remains to be seen if the Lilywhites can beat the Reds in the pursuit of the midfielder. It can be termed as a bit reactionary to start following him because he is playing at the World Cup.

While the Lilywhites could do better than him in the transfer market, he wouldn’t be the worst option in the world to bring in to add depth to our squad. We just have to be careful that the 2022 FIFA World Cup doesn’t add suitors in the race for Amrabat and doesn’t add to his valuation.
