Chelsea are set to still be without a number of key players for the first leg of their last 16 Conference League tie with FC Copenhagen according to reports.

The Blues had the weekend off after being dumped out of the FA Cup by Brighton, but they travel to Denmark on Thursday looking to keep alive their only hope of silverware this season.

Enzo Maresca’s men have a 100% record in the competition to date, but the level of opposition in the knockout rounds will be more of a test.

Chelsea injury update

Chelsea are embroiled in a fierce race for Champions League qualification, and although they are just two points off third, they are also only four points away from tenth.

As the season enters a really crucial stage the Blues have picked up a number of injuries to key players, which Maresca really could have done without.

Wesley Fofana returned to the match day squad against Southampton in a big boost , but the likes of Nicolas Jackson, Romeo Lavia and Noni Madueke remain absent.

Chelsea will have Cole Palmer available for the first time in the Conference League this campaign, whilst Trevoh Chalobah and Mathis Amougou were also added to the squad for the knockout stage.

However, The Evening Standard have provided the latest update on the injury situation with Chalobah closest to a return after picking up an injury against Villa, and he could be back for the game with Copenhagen.

The reports adds that the likes of Jackson, Lavia, Madueke and Marc Guiu could return for the Tottenham game on April 3rd, whilst Badiashile’s potential return date is unknown.

Jackson is currently out with a hamstring injury, whilst Madueke also injured his hamstring against Brighton, and the Blues will be hoping the return of key players gives them the boost they need to finish the season strongly.
