Another majorly disappointing loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League opener has left Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman in hot water. Breaking all the records that should not be broken and once again raising doubts about his pedigree as a coach at such a level.

However, reports from SPORT say that the Dutchman remains calm, confident and optimistic about things to come for the team. He has lost two players who contributed to almost 50% of the team’s goals last season in Messi and Griezmann and is under a lot of pressure.

Koeman seems to understand this, but first and foremost, wants his Barcelona side to bounce back from the setback against Bayern Munich to get back on track. He wants them to recover emotionally and physically.

He supposedly also believes that the squad, once bolstered by the returning players can be much better on paper, as well as perform at a higher level on the pitch in order to compete for titles.

Koeman cites the examples of last season, where the side got off to a very shaky start and at one point, found themselves 12 points behind league leaders Atletico Madrid, before bouncing back in the new year to win the Copa del Rey, reach the Supercup final and come within inches of La Liga glory.

The impending return of Ansu Fati, Ousmane Dembele, Sergio Aguero and the (hopefully) speedy recoveries of the recently injured Jordi Alba and Pedri will all be crucial in getting Koeman the results he needs to prove his point.

He does know that there is not as much margin for error as there was last season. The clock is ticking for Koeman, and he has to take accountability soon.
