Inter Milan are reportedly unlikely to sign Parma defender Giovanni Leoni this summer.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, anticipate that the Nerazzurri will be priced out of a move for the 19-year-old. They will, however, sign a defender.
Inter Milan have not yet made a major defensive signing this summer. This in spite of the fact that reinforcing at the back has long looked to be a major priority for the Nerazzurri.
With Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij now well into their thirties, Inter are keen to sign a player for the future of their backline.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, there is no doubt that signing a defender is one of Inter’s remaining priorities this summer.
However, the newspaper cautions that despite widespread reports, Parma defender Giovanni Leoni is unlikely to be the player who arrives.
The 19-year-old would check all Inter’s boxes. Both in terms of his ability, and his age.
However, Parma are unlikely to go below €40 million in their valuation of Leoni. And this could simply be too much for Inter.
The Nerazzurri are already working on a big money deal for Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman.
The Nigerian international is the priority at this stage of the transfer window for Inter.
Therefore, Inter will wait until they wrap up a deal for Lookman before they move for Leoni.
And even with some sales, the €40 million price tag for Leoni will be problematic.
Accordingly, the Gazzetta anticipate, it is likely to be a different defender who arrives at Inter. One of the most persistently linked would be Genoa’s Koni De Winter, the newspaper note.
