The situation of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has emerged as a big question mark at Barcelona.

The 33-year-old had spent the bulk of last season out with a knee injury. However, he was able to return towards the end of the campaign.

However, Barcelona have made a major goalkeeping signing this summer. They’ve brought in Joan Garcia from city rivals Espanyol.

The sense is that Garcia will be the first-choice starter in goal next season. Meanwhile, veteran former Juventus and Arsenal keeper Wojcech Szczesny is still at the club.

According to Sport, Barcelona want to offload Ter Stegen this summer.

Having decided on Garcia to be the first-choice starter between the posts, there is little place for the former Borussia Monchengladbach keeper at the Camp Nou.

Furthermore, reports Sport, Barcelona could even allow Ter Stegen to leave for nothing. This would allow them to save on his wages – he is one of the highest earners in the squad over the remaining three years of his contract.

A few clubs have sounded out a move for Ter Stegen. These have included Monaco and Galatasaray.

To date, Ter Stegen has not opened up to any offers. The German feels that these moves would constitute a step down for him.

However, Sport anticipate, Inter have also joined the race to sign Ter Stegen. And they would be a bigger name than those clubs who have already shown an interest, and a chance to fight for trophies.

Therefore, reports Sport, Ter Stegen could be more open to joining Inter.
