Pogba has been linked to a number of clubs – including PSG and Manchester City – but it sounds like a return to Turin is on the cards. At least, that is what has been reported in Italy via La Gazzetta dello Sport, with Juventus set to win the race to re-sign the World Cup winner.
The report claims Juventus and Pogba have agreed on a three-year deal, plus a salary worth €10 million per year, on top of a bonus that awaits him upon signing the dotted line.
According to The Times, Pogba got as far as agreeing personal terms with City following talks over a transfer, but he pulled the plug due to concerns about a backlash from United fans.
Meanwhile, if you ask most United fans about Pogba leaving this summer, they will probably tell you that they’re disappointed things didn’t work out – but they will be happy to get rid of him and everything that comes with it from his representatives and unwillingness to try make amends for his unconvincing performances.
It feels like he threw in the towel a long time ago in order to run down his contract, but there’s no point crying over spilled milk. Pogba moving on will give new manager Erik ten Hag a chance to rebuild United’s midfield and it needs a lot of work. We’ve tried a number of different systems down the years but have never been able to find the right role for the Frenchman, and it’s time for all parties to accept that.
