Everton’s financial challenges have been well-documented, with the club facing deductions and stringent Premier League regulations impacting their spending abilities. Despite these hurdles, Sean Dyche’s management has steered the Toffees towards Premier League safety, epitomized by a crucial 2-0 win over Liverpool. TEAMTalk reports that Everton must sell at least one significant asset before June 30 to balance their books and stave off further penalties, with midfielder Amadou Onana and centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite listed as potential departures due to their high market value.

In light of their need to bolster the squad economically, Everton are revisiting their interest in Salernitana’s Boulaye Dia, whom they had previously targeted but found financially out of reach. With Salernitana relegated and planning a squad overhaul, Dia is available for a ‘cut-price fee.’ According to Corriere dello Sport, the 27-year-old striker, who has managed four goals this term following a more prolific season last year with 16 goals, has fallen out with the club, enhancing Everton’s chances of securing his services for a reduced sum.
Dia’s potential arrival at Goodison Park comes when Everton’s striking options are limited, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto struggling for form. The Senegalese forward’s ability to find the net, demonstrated in a challenging environment at Salernitana, makes him an attractive option for Everton. His reported falling out with the Italian club after a blocked move to Wolves in January only serves to hasten his departure, with a possible transfer fee of around £17 million cited, significantly lower than previous valuations.
Everton’s pursuit of Dia could face competition from Wolves, who remain interested in the striker. As Everton looks to rebuild and possibly push for higher league positions in future seasons, securing a player of Dia’s calibre at a bargain price could be crucial. The coming weeks will be telling, as the Toffees aim to navigate their financial constraints while strengthening their squad in critical areas.
In conclusion, Boulaye Dia represents a strategic target for Everton as they aim to enhance their attacking options without breaking the bank. His proven track record in Serie A, combined with the current dynamics at Salernitana, positions him as a viable candidate to lead Everton’s line in the challenging seasons ahead.
