However, soon after sources close to the German manager’s entourage informed media outlets that there was no meeting taking place.

More details about what went down

Now, Luis F Rojo of MARCA has brought about more details about what exactly went down during Deco’s trip to London.

Deco and Bojan went to Ireland to watch the final between Bayer Leverkusen and Atalanta. And the trip was made with a stopover in London.

There was no meeting scheduled with Flick, even though he was in the English capital, and the two parties did not meet either.

However, there was telephone contact between Deco and Flick. That morning rumours emerged that Chelsea wanted to tie down the German coach once it became known that Mauricio Pochettino was not going to continue.

Laporta, who is Flick’s main supporter, did not want him to commit himself to Chelsea until the situation with Xavi had been resolved.

For this reason, Deco spoke to Flick on Wednesday, who assured him that he had made no commitment to Chelsea.

The Barcelona sporting director explained the situation the club was going through coach and that the definitive solution would come after their last league game against Sevilla on Sunday. Flick understood this and told Deco that he was willing to wait for the team if Xavi finally left.

Xavi’s situation needs to be resolved

Earlier today, it was suggested that there was a verbal agreement between Barcelona and Flick, but his entourage has denied that as well, remarking that they will not make any major moves until Xavi remains at the club.

Now it remains to be seen how the Xavi issue will be resolved. In theory there should be a meeting on Monday to clarify his future, but at the moment that meeting has not been scheduled
