Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy travels to the Bahamas for transfer budget meeting

According to The Telegraph [Subscription Required], Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has taken the week off from work at North London and has flown to the Bahamas to meet with Spurs owner Joe Lewis.

Spurs have been a different side after the arrival of Antonio Conte. The Italian has managed to help some out-of-favour Spurs stars to rejuvenate their form and has added fresh life to what appeared to be a flagging season.

The former Chelsea manager has brought a new training schedule and diet plan to help the Tottenham squad get into shape. While there is still work to be done, the Italian appears to be taking the club to where they belong.

However, the recent improvement wasn’t enough to hold off Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg. The home side earned a 2-0 victory that saw Spurs get thoroughly outplayed.

After the match, Conte suggested that Spurs is a middle team and a lot of work to be done to make the team competitive against top Premier League competitors. The Italian also revealed that only one transfer window wouldn’t solve the problems. However, the former Inter Milan manager emphasized the need for quality reinforcements.

However, Antonio Conte might require to know the budget for shortlisting his targets for the January window. Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy could be in the process of doing just that, and hopefully his trip goes on to be more than a vacation.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would have a massive role to play in major rebuilding.

Last month, the richest man in Singapore, Forrest Li, visited the Tottenham stadium and was seen with Daniel Levy while taking the tour. Whether the visit was a business trip or just a catch-up meet with an old friend is unknown. There is also speculation about the new investments that Tottenham is attracting.

Furthermore, Tottenham are also believed to be attracting investments from America. This augurs well for a club looking to establish itself amidst the pandemic that bled them dry.

It seems Conte has shortlisted several players he wants to offload for a major clear-out. Therefore, considerable reinforcements would be required to cover up for the position. Even though Tottenham hasn’t been very active in the winter transfer window for the last few seasons, Antonio Conte’s project could change the trend.
