Arsenal are stepping up their pursuit of promising young striker Marcos Leonardo.

According to reports, the Gunners have submitted a bid exceeding €30 million for the Benfica star, signalling their serious intent to strengthen their attack ahead of next season.

Arsenal‘s interest in Leonardo

Arsenal‘s interest in Leonardo is not new and dates back to before his recent move to Benfica. The club had been monitoring his progress at Santos before he moved to Portugal and remains eager to add him to their ranks.

Benfica, unsurprisingly, are not keen to immediately part ways with a player they only acquired two months ago. The Portuguese club is reportedly looking to assess Leonardo‘s value after a full season, a strategy that could drive up his price tag considerably.

Leonardo‘s impressive start at Benfica – netting four goals (with an assist) in just seven substitute appearances (171 minutes) – will undoubtedly attract even more interest.

Arsenal‘s need for additional attacking depth is clear and the club recognises Leonardo’s potential as a highly promising young striker and believes he could add significant value to their forward line. They may also be preparing for potential summer departures of Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson.

Arsenal face competition in their pursuit of Leonardo. Other major clubs, including Manchester United and AS Roma, are reportedly interested in the South American star.

However, Arsenal appear to be in a strong position as they’ve already, allegedly, submitted a substantial bid.
