Chelsea are planning to bid for Tottenham Hotspur target Raphinha

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea is preparing a bid for Leeds United winger, Raphinha. Tottenham Hotspur had also made contact with the Brazilian winger.

Arsenal had a bid rejected for the 25-year-old, as their offer was below the valuation of Leeds. Now Spurs could face competition from another London club as Chelsea prepare to bid for the winger.

Raphinha was a key figure last season at Elland Road, as he helped them stave off relegation by a whisker. Leeds are willing to sell their star man, and anyone willing to splash £65 million can secure his signature.

The Brazilian has attracted a host of attention from various clubs, with Barcelona said to be his preferred destination. But that seems unlikely given the economic turmoil that the Catalan club is going through.

Worth the money?

Landing Raphinha will not be cheap for any club as Leeds are adamant in their valuation. This leads to the question of whether it is the right price for the player? And the answer would be a yes, given the attraction of different clubs that the player has gained.

Antonio Conte would love to have such a dynamic player in his team. His arrival would help new signing Ivan Perisic to play further upfront and potentially replace Steven Bergwijn, who is tipped to leave the club.

His arrival would also help in increasing the competition among team members to make it to the starting XI, and would also send a message to other top clubs in the League that Spurs mean business next season. Securing his signature would also help Conte, who will be hoping to win some silverware with Tottenham soon.

Raphinha has a lot of suitors including Tottenham.

The Brazilian would also fit in Conte 3-4-3 by playing in the wings and could also play up front. His experience in the Premier League is the cherry on the top for the club to go all out for his signature.

Chelsea are planning a squad overhaul following new ownership of the club, and Spurs will have to act fast if they want to beat their London rivals to his signature. It is no doubt that whichever club signs the winger, he will bring depth and attacking options to their table. It remains to be seen which side of London he will play for, should he make a move.
