The top five will qualify for the Champions League, and Chelsea can ill afford to miss out for a third consecutive season, but Enzo Maresca’s men face a tough end to the season.

Chelsea well placed to secure lucrative £50m shirt sponsorship

Chelsea have once again played without a front of shirt sponsor this season after the £40m deal they agreed with Infinite Athlete last season wasn’t continued.

The Blues will surely have a front of shirt sponsor for next season, but Champions League football will be crucial for the club in order to get the deal they want.

Football Insider have reported the Blues would be in a strong position to secure a £50m per year front of shirt sponsorship deal if they can secure Champions League football.

The report adds Chelsea are understood to have held talks with Qatar Airways and two other airlines, but no agreement has been reached with anyone as of yet.

A lack of Champions League football and shirt sponsor has left the Blues with a hole in their finances which they will be desperate to plug next season.

The Blues were able to post a profit after they sold their women’s team to BlueCo last summer in a deal worth around £200m.

However, Chelsea don’t have enough assets to sell to keep digging them out of financial holes, which is why they desperately need the revenue from Champions League football and a shirt sponsor otherwise they could face big issues moving forward.
