Celtic are said to be interested in signing Olympique Marseille’s Bamba Dieng. The Senegalese central forward is being courted by a number of teams and the Scottish Champions are listed as keeping tabs on the player.

According to French football outlet Homme Du Match, OM are keen to offload the player as opportunities will be limited due to the arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Inter Milan. Dieng is said to have fallen out of the manager’s plans and the Ligue 1 outfit are said to be willing to sell the player. The 22-year-old is believed to have interested Newcastle United as well as Leeds United. Although, OM are quoting £8m for a permanent deal.

The player has made 42 appearances for Marseille, scoring 9 goals and assisting once. You would expect that the fee quoted is too steep for Celtic given that the club have already spent heavily on Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers. However, you would expect that the club are considering another centre forward with Albian Ajeti seemingly out of the first team picture.

Ange Postecoglou has said that the club will be keen to add to their ranks if the right deal comes up with the manager coy on names or details. Although, we will likely put this one down as unlikely.
