Brendan Rodgers not interested in the Manchester United job as pressure builds on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

According to the Manchester Evening News (h/t Sports Mole), Brendan Rodgers is said to have shown no interest to leave Leicester City amidst speculations linking him to the Manchester United job. United are on the back of a heavy 5-0 defeat at the hands of bitter rivals Liverpool.

Man Utd were outclassed in a historical defeat that saw the Reds put five past David De Gea’s goal. The match saw Paul Pogba saw a red for his double footed challenge on Naby Keita. Mohamed Salah also scored a hat-trick in the game that saw him become the highest-scoring African in Premier League history.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was facing huge pressure before the game and the result made it go haywire. However, it is expected that Ole will be managing the team against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday but his future remains undecided following that.

The Red Devils have been linked to several coaches following the defeat and a shortlist was supposedly created in which Rodgers is included. Antonio Conte, Zinedine Zidane and Erik ten Hag are said to be the shortlisted candidates.

However, the Leicester boss does not want to leave his current club as he is happy with the team. He was also linked with a move to Tottenham in the summer transfer window but it never came to fruition.

The Northern Irish manager’s current deal with the Foxes will only expire in the summer of 2025. Zidane is also said to have shown not much interest but Conte is interested only if he has full authority over the transfer targets.

A rash decision is the last thing that we need looking at the circumstances, however, a decision does have to be made. This was not a one-off case as it was in the making for a long time. It remains to be seen what lies in store but we need to see a decision that will help the club reinstate its glory.
