Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove is in no rush to have an internal defibrillator (ICD) fitted after his cardiac arrest while playing in the Serie A match between Inter and Fiorentina last weekend, according to Il Messaggero, despite several other outlets reporting that he will have the device fitted at the beginning of next week.
According to Il Messagero’s report, Bove would have asked for more time to weigh up his options given that having a defibrillator fitted would bring the end of his playing career in Serie A and for the Italy national teams.
The Italian outlet also claims that the 22-year-old has also requested new and updated tests on his heart to assess the situation further.
Saturday’s report suggests that a removable, semi-automatic defibrillator is one of the potential options being considered, which could potentially allow the Bove to continue playing in Italy.
Whatever the final decision, Bove’s long-term health remains the priority.

Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen has already been through a similar ordeal after he suffered an on-pitch cardiac arrest with Denmark during EURO 2020, while he was still contracted to Inter. He was also not permitted to play in Serie A with an ICD.
