Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly made an unsuccessful bid to buy Olympique Lyon

According to The Guardian (h/t Daily Star), Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly failed in his attempts to buy Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyon earlier this month.

The American missed out on his mission because Crystal Palace investor John Textor had already agreed to buy a majority share in the French club before the Blues owner.

Tom Glick, who is the former chief commercial officer for City Football Group, has been tasked with helping Boehly establish a multi-club system at Chelsea. However, Glick spent several months working on a similar plan with Textor.

It is understood that the Eagles investor had already agreed on a deal with the French side as early as June, while Boehly made a last-minute attempt to buy the club earlier this month.

This is not the first club that the American has been unsuccessful at acquiring. The Blues owner was also turned down by the Brazilian club Santos.

Boehly has been very vocal about establishing a multi-club network at the west London club. The American wants to improve the global brand of the club, while also helping the youngsters gain senior-level football experience.
