Luis Diaz’s name has scarcely been out of the headlines in recent weeks, and now fresh developments from Germany suggest that Liverpool may be facing a serious challenge to retain the Colombian star. According to BILD’s chief correspondent Christian Falk, Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich have made a concrete offer for the 28-year-old winger.
After early links to both Barcelona and Al Nassr, it’s Bayern Munich who now appear to have taken the lead in the race for Diaz’s signature. Falk reports that Bayern’s director Max Eberl has “made a concrete approach to Luis Díaz,” with figures already being discussed. The report adds weight to recent claims by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, who stated that Diaz has been made Bayern’s “No. 1 target for the left wing position.”

The Bundesliga giants are understood to be prioritising reinforcement on the flanks this summer, and Diaz’s versatility, work rate and end product make him a standout option. A player who thrives in transition and excels in one-v-one scenarios, Diaz is tailor-made for a possession-dominant side looking to add dynamism on the break.
Despite the speculation, Liverpool are not eager to part with one of their most effective attackers. Diaz was a standout performer in Arne Slot’s first season at Anfield, and the Dutchman is believed to value the Colombian highly. Talks over a new contract have been opened by the club, yet they appear to have stalled — opening the door to fresh suitors.
Diaz’s current deal runs until 2027, so Liverpool hold a strong position contractually. However, should the player express a desire to leave or should Bayern’s offer reach a significant figure, a serious conversation may need to be had at Anfield.
Vincent Kompany is rebuilding a Bayern side that won the Bundesliga but is due evolution. The club is expected to be aggressive in the market, and Diaz, with his Champions League experience and top-level pedigree, fits their profile.
It’s unclear whether Liverpool would consider selling without a marquee replacement in mind. With Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes now spearheading the club’s recruitment, any outgoing will be weighed carefully — especially when involving a key first-team player like Diaz.
From a Liverpool fan’s perspective, this report is undoubtedly concerning. Luis Diaz has been one of the most consistent performers since his arrival and was pivotal under both Klopp and Arne Slot last season. His flair, work rate, and ability to turn matches on their head are assets not easily replaced.
While contract talks have reportedly stalled, many supporters will feel this is a situation that must be resolved swiftly. Diaz remains in his prime and has shown no visible signs of wanting out, but the interest from Bayern — a club of serious European pedigree — could turn his head if he feels undervalued or uncertain about his long-term future at Liverpool.
