Over the past year, Neymar’s name has not come up much in the rumor mill regarding a move to another club. This is in contrast to 2019 when rumors and reports circulated almost daily about Neymar’s future at Paris Saint-Germain, especially over a possible return to Barcelona.
Last year, Barca made no reported push to sign Neymar on a blockbuster transfer move. Now-former Barca president Josep Bartomeu revealed that the Catalan club simply could not afford to bring back Neymar unless players were involved in such a deal due to the economic impact from the coronavirus shutdown.
This time around, Barca will once again strike out on a possible Neymar signing. As noted by the German-based outlet Sky Sport, Barca is simply not ‘capable’ of signing Neymar over the upcoming summer transfer window.
Barca continues to recover from the uncertain financial situation that it is currently in. Thus, Barca has no plans to re-engage in transfer talks for a Neymar signing, although club officials have discussed the possibility of whether such a signing could be possible.
More so, Neymar feels ‘comfortable’ at PSG, per the report.
Neymar will have a mere one year left on his contract following this season. A new extension agreement between Neymar and PSG would once and for all end speculation over whether he could soon return to Barca.
