Barcelona are reportedly one of the frontrunners to secure the signing of Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah in 2025, alongside Bayern Munich, according to SPORT.
The German centre-back is on the radar of Barcelona’s sporting department as they look to strengthen their defence for the next season. It appears that the Blaugrana are ready to join the race for his signature when his contract expires.
It must be noted that in the final days of this past August’s transfer window, Barcelona made a move to bring in Tah, but financial limitations, specifically the salary cap, prevented them from completing the deal.
However, the player has mentioned that he has decided not to renew his contract with Leverkusen, meaning he will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season.
While it is certain that Tah will leave Leverkusen once his contract runs out, his next destination remains unclear.

Bayern Munich and Barcelona are considered the leading contenders for his services, though several Premier League clubs have also expressed interest in the defender.
Despite strong competition, Barcelona seem eager to capitalise on the opportunity to sign Tah, especially given the value he represents as a free transfer.
Tah’s arrival at Barcelona could potentially lead to the exit of one or more of the club’s current defenders. A move like this could bring in a significant transfer fee for those players as the club reshapes its squad for the future.
Barcelona are already well aware of Tah’s intentions through his agent, Pini Zahavi, who has been involved in negotiations with the club in the past.
The defender is highly regarded by Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco. His physical presence and ball-playing ability from the backline make him an attractive option for the Blaugrana.
With his prime years ahead of him, Tah would certainly be a significant addition to Barcelona’s defensive unit and a potential game-changer in the upcoming summer transfer window.
