Arsenal have emerged as surprise suitors for Lautaro Martínez, and the Inter striker would be interested in moving to the Emirates this summer.

That’s according to a report from The Athletic on Saturday, which suggest the Gunners have enquired about Lautaro’s availability during talks with Inter over the potential transfer of Héctor Bellerín to the Serie A champions.

According to their sources, the Argentine striker would be open to joining Arsenal, but any move for him could rely on Alexandre Lacazette being sold first.

Arsenal’s north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also believed to hold an interest in Lautaro as a potential replacement should Harry Kane end up leaving the club.

Inter need to sell players to balance the books this summer and have already allowed Achraf Hakimi to join Paris Saint-Germain. The Milan giants need to end the summer with a net transfer profit of €80m and their reported reluctance to sell Romelu Lukaku means Lautaro has emerged as possible candidate to leave the club.

The 23-year-old joined Inter from Racing Club in 2018 and has so far enjoyed a successful stint in Italy, with his 17 Serie A goals last season helping the Nerazzurri to a first Scudetto in over a decade.

His current contract at San Siro doesn’t expire until the summer of 2023 and though he came close to penning an extension last season, it is believed that a possible move to Arsenal would come with an attractive salary increase.
