Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi is set to feature for Argentina for the first time since he starred in its 2022 FIFA World Cup-winning run. The Argentina national team will meet Panama for an international friendly fixture at the Estadio Monumental on Thursday.

Messi had a roller-coaster month of March with PSG. He orchestrated promising performances in PSG’s Ligue 1 fixtures against Nantes, Brest, and Rennes. However, he struggled to muster up much in the attack in PSG’s UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg loss to Bayern Munich.

According to TyC Sports, here is the starting 11 that Argentina national team manager Lionel Scaloni could roll with for this fixture.

Martinez; Molina, Romero, Otamendi, Acuna; De Paul, Fernandez, Mac Allister; Di María, Alvarez, Messi

Scaloni could possibly call on his squad to play under a 4-3-3 formation against Panama, with Juventus playmaker Angel Di Maria, Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez and Messi leading the way upfront. The PSG forward tagged along with Alvarez and Di Maria in Argentina’s World Cup final win against France.

Overall, Messi is just two goals away from reaching 100 goals in his international career.
