Eredivisie giants Ajax have reportedly plucked another big-name star from the Dutch league after completing a deal for Feyenoord captain Steven Berghuis.
According to a report from De Telegraaf, only an official announcement is left and Ajax ” will pay the team from Rotterdam a maximum of 5.5 million euros.”
The report continues to say that Berghuis will sign until 2025 after an oral agreement was reached and paperwork completed on Monday.
Additionally, it’s being tipped that making the switch from Rotterdam to the arch-rivals in Amsterdam as “the most controversial Eredivisie transfer of this century.”
Berghuis was part of the team that ended Feyenoord’s 18-year dry spell after winning the 2016-17 Eredivisie title.
His club record of 87 goals and 64 assists in 199 appearances will be a huge boost in attack for Ajax manager Erik ten Hag.
