West Ham United and Rennes have announced they will face each other in a pre-season friendly at Roazhon Park on Saturday July 29th at 6pm CEST. The Bruno Genesio-led side are used to hosting a Premier League side for pre-season friendlies. Last year, Rennes lost to Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa 2-1 at the Roazhon Park. West Ham have never faced Rennes before, but Moroccan international centre-back Nayef Aguerd (27) will be returning to his former home, having made 79 appearances for the Brittany side during a two-year stint prior to heading to the London Stadium last summer.
It is possible that West Ham and Rennes face each other again this season in the Europa League as both teams qualified for the competition. The David Moyes-led side booked their ticket as Europa Conference League winners whilst Rennes finished their Ligue 1 season in fourth place. Two days after facing the Hammers, Rennes will travel to England for a five-day pre-season training camp at St George’s Park National Football Centre. On Wednesday August 2nd, Stade Rennais will face Nottingham Forest FC at St George’s Park at 7pm BST. Three days later, Rennes will travel to Molineux to face Wolves for their final pre-season game.
