According to Foot Mercato Rennes are struggling to sign Lyon defender Jason Denayer (26) whose contract at OL runs out on 30th June. The player has reportedly not given the Breton club any intent to sign, and has not been in contact in the last few days – leading to the belief that the move may have fallen through.

Rennes will miss Nayef Arguerd, who signed for West Ham yesterday for €35m and are looking for viable replacements for the Moroccan International. Rennes sporting director Florian Maurice was regarding Denayer as the right candidate – as the centre back endured a rough end to last season after injury and fell out of favour under Peter Bosz whilst struggling to agree on a new contract at OL.

Rennes were always facing stiff competition from English clubs who could offer higher wages for the Belgian international, and now with a loss of contact form the player a deal looks less and less likely.
