As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Rennes have rejected an €18m offer for midfielder Lovro Majer from Wolfsburg.

However, despite this setback, Wolfsburg will not give up in their attempts to sign the 25-year-old Croatian midfielder. The deal offered by Wolfsburg did include add-ons that would have taken the overall package up to €22m-€25m, while also offering the French side a sell-on clause.

Nevertheless, a move to the Bundesliga is not looking any closer for Majer. Rennes are demanding €30m for his services, and Wolfsburg are now evaluating their options, with Inter Milan also showing interest in their midfield target.

Last season, Majer featured 42 times for Rennes, scoring three goals and collecting seven assists in all competitions. He would also play a part in the Croatian side that finished third at the World Cup, while also being losing finalists in the UEFA Nations League.

It had been previously reported that Majer would be too expensive for the Wolves. However, after the sale of Felix Nmecha to Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg want to add immediate quality to their midfield as they look to compete for European football next season.
