Rennes are monitoring Leeds midfielder and Finland international Glen Kamara (28), according to a report this Sunday from L’Equipe. The Ligue 1 club are in the market for a central midfielder, as they are expected to part ways with Enzo Le Fée (24). The former Lorient player is heavily courted by AS Roma. Switzerland international Fabian Rieder (22) already left Rennes to join VfB Stuttgart on a season-long loan.
Last season, Les Rouge et Noir badly struggled in the midfield area and lacked a physical defensive midfielder to provide cover for an inexperienced backline. Rennes also failed to replace Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic (35) when the former Manchester United and Chelsea player pushed for an exit only four months after he arrived from Roma.
The outlet understands that Leeds’ Glen Kamara is one of the midfielders Rennes are monitoring to bolster their midfield options. The Ligue 1’s sporting policy is spearheaded by former AC Milan Sporting director Frederic Massara since this summer. Glen Kamara played 37 games with the Peacocks last season. Leeds have failed to secure promotion back to the Premier League after losing the Championship play-off final to Southampton.
