Arthur Theate, who suffered a thigh injury against Lille OSC last Sunday, is out of Stade Rennais’ encounter against Olympique de Marseille on Sunday afternoon.

There had been hope that the Belgian centre-back would have recovered sufficiently in order to participate in the match against Marseille, however, he misses out on the squad. Jeanuël Belocian takes Theate’s place in the heart of Rennes’ defence.

Julien Stéphan will also be without Enzo Le Fée and Fabian Rieder. Both are nearing returns, however, neither has been deemed fit enough to face Les Phocéens in what is potentially a pivotal fixture in the race for European football next season. Rennes have had a relatively stable starting XI, and whilst Stéphan isn’t expected to make wholesale changes, Ludovic Blas and Azor Matusiwa could both drop to the bench.

Rennes likely lineup v Marseille

Steve Mandanda; Adrien Truffert, Jeanuël Belocian, Warmed Omari, Guéla Doué; Martin Terrier, Désiré Doué, Baptiste Santamaria, Benjamin Bourigeaud; Amine Gouiri, Arnaud Kalimuendo. (L’Éq)
