Rennes are already trying to sell Japanese international striker Kyogo Furuhashi (30), only four months after signing him from Celtic, according to Ouest-France. The 30-year-old joined the Ligue 1 side in a €12m transfer during the winter window. Rennes’ Jota went the other way around, signing for Brendan Rodgers’ Bhoys. Furuhashi was a target for Jorge Sampaoli, but the Argentine head coach was eventually dismissed a couple of days after Furuhashi’s arrival.
The 30-year-old striker only featured six times for Rennes, totalling only 120 minutes on the pitch. He logged no goal contribution for Les Rouge et Noir. Furuhashi is part of Habib Beye’s travelling squad that will face Marseille tonight for the final Ligue 1 day. Furuhashi is not the only signing Rennes will be looking to sell, as a mass exodus is expected.
Indeed, Rennes are looking to trim down their squad, considering none of the signings overseen by Frederic Massara have met expectations. The Sporting Director has been dismissed this Friday. Formed Strasbourg’s head of recruitment, Loïc Désiré, will replace him. Ouest-France understands that centre-backs Christopher Wooh and Mikayil Faye, as well as striker Carlos Andrés Gómez, are also set to be transfer-listed.
