According to L’Équipe, Stade Rennais are interested in signing former Everton midfielder André Gomes (31) on a free transfer. The Portuguese international is a free agent after his contract expired at Goodison Park in June 2024.
Gomes was recently playing his football in France. The season before his contract with Everton expired, the 31-year-old spent the season on loan with Lille in Ligue 1. He was a regular starter during his season on loan with Les Dogues – making 27 appearances across all competitions in Northern France.
Rennes are currently waiting for Benjamin Bourigeaud’s transfer to Qatar to be finalised. However, this has not stopped Les Rouges et Noirs from trying to find a replacement for the Frenchman. Gomes looks to be the player that they have identified. With no contract signed with other clubs, the Portuguese midfielder would not be against a potential return to the French top flight.
