Stade Rennais, who have missed out on European qualification for the first time in seven years, are set to lose a whole raft of players this summer. Enzo Le Fée, Jeanuël Belocian, Fabian Rieder, Matthis Abline and Alfred Gomis have all already left. Arthur Theate’s move to Saudi Arabia was aborted at the last minute but he may yet leave, whilst Désiré Doué is highly coveted. Should a strong offer be received, Rennes would struggle to refuse.
However, SRFC are also looking to strengthen their squad and could be set to reignite their interest in Augsburg winger Ruben Vargas (25), according to L’Équipe. The forward put in a string of strong performances with Switzerland at Euro 2024, which culminated in an excellent performance against Italy in the Round of 16 where he scored a goal and netted an assist.
Switzerland’s run at Euro 2024 came to an end at the quarter-final stage, however, Vargas’ performances could yet earn him a move to Rennes this summer.
