Renato Gaúcho not concerned over Gabigol's goalless run | OneFootball

Gabigol has not scored a goal for Flamengo since August 28th, meaning the number nine has gone seven matches without putting the ball in the back of the net.

For Renato Gaúcho, he’s not worried at all about the 25-year-old’s form as he believes it’s a normal thing for strikers.

In addition, Gabigol has since scored twice for Brazil during the high pressure of World Cup qualifying.

“It’s not Gabigol’s positioning. I don’t know a player in the world who doesn’t go a few games without scoring a goal.

“Until a while ago, Pedro, who was ten games without a goal, was being criticised. I said: ‘Pedro, relax, tranquillity, total trust.

“‘In a little while, the ball will start to come in, and you’re going to score goals again.’ And he went back to scoring.

“It’s the same thing with Gabigol. The important thing is the delivery he’s been having, and he’s been helping us in one way or another.

“At the moment, he moves, he opens and is a little far from the area. He is playing without the ball and opening spaces for his partner.

“Especially at a time when you face a team that has three defenders, if he stays there in the middle of the area, he won’t touch the ball.

“So he often leaves and is away from the goal. but he has opened spaces for his teammates.”

Flamengo will have the Fla-Flu derby this weekend before they take on Athletico-PR in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil semi-finals.
