On this day in 2016, Leicester City were remarkably crowned Premier League champions.
Claudio Ranieri guided the Foxes to one of the greatest all-time sporting achievements against all odds, or odds of 5000-1 as we are consistently reminded of.
It was a truly incredible season, so let’s indulge in some nostalgia and remember some of the best moments from Leicester’s title win ….
Of course they were going to win the title with this maverick in charge …
Jamie Vardy was in scintillating form in 2015/16, becoming the first player to score in 11 consecutive Premier League games.
He ended the season with 24.
“It’s 11, it’s heaven for Jamie Vardy!” @PremierLeague history was made on this day two years ago…–
Let’s not forget how good Riyad Mahrez was that season.
The Foxes edged closer to the title with a draw at Old Trafford thanks to a goal from their captain.
Their victory was confirmed in a game that will go down as one of the Premier League all-time classics, ‘The Battle of the Bridge’…
Which led to some brilliant scenes …
Andrea Bocelli sang ‘Nessun Dorma’ next to a teary-eyed Ranieri at the King Power Stadium.
That actually happened.
Ah, football is brilliant, isn’t it?
