More than a decade since he retired, Edgar Davids remains the gold standard for midfielders.
In a career which spanned from Ajax to Crystal Palace, via spells in Serie A and the Premier League, the former Netherlands international is still remembered fondly.
Davids celebrates his 52nd birthday on Thursday and was not known for his prolific goal scoring, registering double figures just once in 23 seasons, but when he did find the net it was memorable.
Take this stunning solo effort in a friendly with Belgium in 1999, a game which remarkably ended 5-5 between the upcoming EURO 2000 co-hosts.
Truly a work of art.
