Chelsea became the first London side to be crowned champions of Europe in 2012, securing a maiden Champions League success following a shock win against Bayern Munich.
Roberto Di Matteo’s side caused a surprise after progressing through to the competition’s latter stages, before facing off against Bayern on their own Allianz Arena in the showpiece.
Thomas Muller’s goal seven minutes from time looked to have put the Bundesliga side on course to secure the trophy, only for Didier Drogba’s iconic late header to level the scores and force extra-time.

Following a penalty save from Petr Cech in the added period, the goalkeeper repeated those heroics in the resulting shoot-out as Chelsea were crowned Champions League winners for the first time.
