Alarm bells were sent ringing at Real Madrid on Tuesday night when Eduardo Camavinga limped off with an injury during France’s international friendly against Chile.

Concerns were raised and naturally so, after all the young midfielder had already suffered an injury during the previous national team camp in November last year.

It emerged that Camavinga had suffered an ankle sprain during the game against Chile which led to him being replaced by Matteo Guendouzi.

Camavinga’s sprain is minor

Now, though, in what is bound to come as a big relief for Real Madrid, Camavinga’s sprain is only considered a ‘minor’ one, reports Jorge C Picon.

Based on the reports from the initial tests carried out on the French midfielder, his issue is understood to be mild. In fact, it is not ruled out that the youngster will be available to face Athletic Club this weekend.

Initially, right after the injury, there were fears about the worse case scenario, with Camavinga’s availability for next month’s UEFA Champions League quarterfinal first-leg tie against Manchester City being questioned.

However, the situation is much better than initially feared, with Camavinga’s injury diagnosed to be only a mild sprain.

As such, it is not entirely out of the question that the midfielder will be available to face Athletic Club on Sunday, although more tests will be conducted once he is back at the club facilities.
