Being relegated is pretty much the worse thing that can happen to a football club. Aside from administration here in Britain, and ultimately an organisation becoming insolvent. That has happened before and it is desperately heartbreaking for supporters of all ages. The most recent case was Bury Football Club. Thankfully, as has also occurred elsewhere, the loyal Shakers fan base came together to reinstate their team. Essentially the fans saved them.
There is no suggestion whatsoever anywhere that Leicester City are in a position at all like Bury. Neither can City's status be compared to what transpired up north in Scotland. Glasgow side Rangers went through a similar turnaround to the Gigg Lane outfit at Ibrox. However, if the Foxes are not ran correctly in the next few years from top-to-bottom - a disaster may perhaps strike on Filbert Way.
Let's hope, if the east Midlanders are indeed relegated this season, that chairman Aiyawatt 'Khun Top' Srivaddhanaprabha gets himself a new director of football. Jon Rudkin's time is up. And Top does need superior advisers around him as well. A finer manager must be installed; the squad requires a rigorous overhaul, as I see it. The LCFC fan base is committed, and fairly large for the size of the city. So, there are no issues there.
The main factor to worry about at King Power Stadium is the loss of revenue that is going to hit in 2025. They aren't down yet - but it looks very feasible. The £100m they'll lose from being in the Championship will be slightly offset by so-called parachute payments:
