Rocco Reitz will join up with the senior Germany side as they begin their training camp ahead of the EUROs on home soil in Thuringia on Sunday. The Borussia midfielder, along with 1. FSV Mainz 05’s Brajan Gruda, will train with head coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team in Blankenhain near Weimar up to and including Friday.

“Some of our internationals are involved in the DFB-Pokal final and the Champions League final, and will join up with the national team at a later date. In order to be able to train optimally during the first part of our preparation – in case we pick up an injury or two –, we’d like to give promising young players the opportunity to demonstrate their ability in and amongst the senior side. Many thanks to my fellow coach Antonio Di Salvo for the positive exchange and the close connection with our U21s,” said national team head coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Reitz said: “It’s always an honour for me to represent the national team. Therefore, I’m massively looking forward to be involved with the senior squad for the first time and gaining important experience there. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone personally and being able to learn a lot from the current best German players.”

The national team’s first training session on Monday in Jena is open to the public. The session will be streamed live on the DFB’s YouTube channel. The national team will then move to their base in Herzogenaurauch on 31st May – without Reitz. Germany will face off against Ukraine in Nürnberg on 3rd June (20:45 CEST) and Greece at BORUSSIA-PARK on 7th June (20:45 CEST) in their two games ahead of the EUROs. Germany will then kick-off the tournament when they take on Scotland on 14th June (21:00 CEST) in Munich.
