Stade de Reims attacking midfielder Arber Zeneli has suffered a cruciate ligament rupture, his club have announced.

Stade de Reims announced on Saturday that Zeneli had undergone tests that revealed a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee.

"The 26-year-old Kosovo International will undergo an operation in due course once the player has completed additional examinations," the Champagne club stated on its official website.

Months on the sidelines

Zeneli is expected to be absent for several months. It is not the first time that Zeneli has suffered an injury of this type. In 2019 the Kosovan ruptured anterior cruciate ligaments in his right knee keeping him out for eight months.

The news of Zeneli's injury is big blow to Reims on the eve of the 2021-22 Ligue 1 Uber Eats season. The highly rated midfielder made 28 league appearances last season and chipped in with three goals and three assists.
