Tijjani Reijnders will very soon become a Milan player as a breakthrough was reached in the negotiations today.
Important news came out today (Saturday) as Milan and AZ Alkmaar are very close to concluding the deal that would see 24-year-old Reijnders arriving in Casa Milan in the next hours.
According to Milannews.it, Gianluca Di Marzio, Luca Bianchin, Matteo Moretto and others, an agreement was found this afternoon between the clubs and only final details need to be settled before the medical can be scheduled and the Dutchman can become a Milan player.
Milannews.it reports that the deal is for €20m plus bonuses, while Di Marzio reports €19m plus €4m of bonuses. Some reports say that he’ll sign a five-year deal, while others suggest a four-year deal. His salary is expected to be €1.6m per season, although there could also be a signing bonus.
The first offer of €18 million plus €3m of bonuses was initially rejected, but Milan raised the bid and found the deal. Bianchin of La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Reijnders pushed hard for the move and he agreed to give up on €3m that AZ owed him in order to facilitate the move and join Stefano Pioli’s squad as soon as possible. Pioli had a number of phone calls with the midfielder and he strongly wanted to have him available before the United States tour.
Reijnders would be the second midfielder to join the club after Ruben Loftus-Cheek and would be the fifth signing in general this summer after Marco Sportiello, RLC, Luka Romero and Christian Pulisic.
