Tijjani Reijnders is turning heads for his club AC Milan and now his country too as the midfielder’s rise continues, and he started for the Netherlands against France on Friday.
Although the Dutch team lost against Mike Maignan and Co. the general consensus is that Reijnders played a good game, continuing the development that he has already shown in the past few months.
Reijnders spoke to ESPN after the match and was satisfied with his own performance but did admit that the result was a disappointing note.
“Personally, it went well. In the end, you don’t take much from it. It’s a shame that we lost here. I think everyone went into the match with the idea that there was something to be gained. We also took advantage of that a few times,” he said.
The former AZ Alkmaar star immediately showed his qualities in Italy after his summer move to Milan and also gave national coach Ronald Koeman plenty to think about for the match against Greece.
“It also went quite quickly at Milan, it’s nice that I can also do that with the Dutch national team,” he added.
