Tijjani Reijnders has been a key player ever since his arrival in 2023 and now, as confirmed by his father Martin, a renewal with AC Milan is on the cards.
Milan reached an agreement with AZ Alkmaar for the transfer of Reijnders at around €20m with bonuses. So far, given the price tag in today’s market, many would agree that it’s one of the best signings the Rossoneri have made.
Although the current contract will expire in 2028, Milan are now working on a renewal which will include a significant pay rise. The negotiations were confirmed by the midfielder’s father and agent, Martin, as he spoke to De Telegraaf (via Gazzetta dello Sport).
“A renewal? It’s a really great gesture, only the big clubs do that. Tijjani feels at home in the club and in the city. He is sensitive to the appreciation he receives from Milan,” Martin stated.
“Just look at the smile with which he plays football. He gives everything, but manages to have fun. The team also really likes Tijjani, who has taken care of him since the beginning. This was important,” Reijnders’ brother Elanio added.
The idea is to pen the renewal at the end of the season, as per Gazzetta dello Sport, so that Milan can renew the deal until 2030 instead of 2029. It has previously been reported that Reijnders’ salary likely will double.
