Tijjani Reijnders has claimed that the squad did not hear from the head coach Sergio Conceicao after the defeat against Dinamo Zagreb last night.
Milan’s worst nightmare came true on Wednesday night as they lost 2-1 in Zagreb to surrender their top eight place in the Champions League. The Rossoneri dropped from sixth in the table before a ball was kicked to 13th, and now a tricky play-off tie is on the cards in February.
Dinamo went ahead in the first half after a slip from Matteo Gabbia allowed Martin Baturina to score, then Yunus Musah was sent off after two yellow cards. Christian Pulisic got an equaliser early in the second half, but Marko Pjaca restored the lead almost straight after.
Reijnders spoke to reporters in the mixed zone while exiting the Stadio Maksimir and he gave a brief comment after a difficult night.
“Our goal was to finish in the top eight, we didn’t achieve this. We have to go in the next round and fight there and keep going in the Champions League.”
It will be Juventus or Feyenoord next…
“Yes, we will see who we get and we have to be ready for that game.”
What did Conceicao say?
“No, nothing today, we’ll talk tomorrow.”
