The Boavista player managed to feature in Friday’s 2-0 loss to Japan in Dusseldorf, Germany, making an appearance in the second half. Cannon has managed one goal in 28 international appearances, playing an integral part in the team’s World Cup qualifiers and forming part of the squad that lifted the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup and Nations League trophy.

Now, he becomes the latest to join the American side’s lengthy injury list, sitting out the last warm up match before the World Cup alongside Yunus Musah, Zack Steffen, Antonee Robinson, Chris Richards, Cristian Roldan, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Timothy Weah.

On a positive note, USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter revealed Christian Pulisic will start against Saudi Arabia, after failing to feature against Japan due to a slight 'knock' he picked up during training during the week prior.

With the game against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, and World Cup in two months, Berhalter knows the team has work to do but remains confident the American side can get the job done.

“We've got work to do. We clearly need to improve, but overall a really good experience for this team," Berhalter said.
