Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, says the recent international break came at a good time for his side to freshen themselves for the remaining five matches of the season.

The Reds currently sit in second on the Isuzu UTE A-League table and are on an unbeaten run of ten matches.

The purple patch bodes well for Veart and his side, the 52-year-old speaking about it to media at Adelaide Airport on Thursday afternoon prior to flying out for New South Wales.

International break:“I think if we take it as a positive it was a good time to have that little bit of a break.

“It gave us a little bit of time because it’s been a long season, so a couple of boys have been going week-to-week with some injuries.

“So it’s given them a little bit of time to freshen up.”

Gauci’s Socceroos debut:“I thought he was outstanding.

“Joe has come along a long way in the last few years with the Club and in his own development.

“It’s full credit to himself for the work that he’s put into himself and it’s great to see that he got those rewards the other night with getting his first cap for the Socceroos.

Run of fixtures to come:“It’s not this one game, it’s the four after this one.

“We’ve got to play against some quality sides and there’s no, I suppose, bigger test for us for the rest of the season than Wanderers away.

“They’re a very good side, a very difficult side to play against and going on the last game that we had against them only a few weeks ago, it was a fantastic game.

“I’m sure (Mark) Rudan will be down the same path as me that it was maybe too many goals, but hopefully we can get close to that level that we played at last time we played them.”
