RedBird Capital Partners sign acquisition contract for AC Milan

RedBird Capital Partners are buying AC Milan after an agreement was struck over the weekend.

Gerry Cardinale, the head of RedBird Capital Partners, has signed the acquisition agreement for the majority of Milan's shareholding from Elliott Management.

The official announcement of the preliminary contract is expected in the next few hours, between today and tomorrow: after completing the signing, the next move will be the closing, an process which however takes longer.

The operation will bring Elliott €1.3bn in cash for the sale of the majority stake in the club to RedBird. The Singer family fund will hold approximately 30% of the shares.

There is a suggestion the overall value of AC Milan has risen to €1.68bn.
