Josko Gvardiol to Manchester City may finally be on the verge of completion after an up-turn in the direction of a deal on Tuesday.

A private jet from Leipzig into Manchester sent social media into a frenzy, and while no confirmed sightings of the player surfaced, news followed in the hours after that indicated Gvardiol’s imminent arrival at the home of the European champions.

It was a busy day on all fronts too, as Manchester City moved closer towards sanctioning a sale of Carlos Borges, who had strongly been linked with a move to West Ham United before a dramatic turn of events this week.

As always, here is your comprehensive round-up of all things concerning Etihad Stadium transfer active from days 47 & 48 of the market!

Arrivals

Manchester City are attempting to push through a deal for Josko Gvardiol before Sunday’s Community Shield against Arsenal. Tuesday brought fresh encouragement of an agreement being reached, with the fee likely to come in at below Leipzig’s £86 million valuation. Negotiations between the clubs took a significant step forward over the last 24 hours with the involvement of Red Bull’s CEO of Corporate Projects and New Investments, Oliver Mintzlaff. (Jack Gaughan, MailSport)

Josko Gvardiol’s transfer to Manchester City is now ‘very close’, but the centre-back remains in Leipzig and has trained as normal. A final agreement could come tomorrow while Leipzig and City push for a ‘quick settlement’, with Pep Guardiola ‘desperately’ wanting the player. As for Leipzig, the Bundesliga club needs further income. (BILD)

Manchester City’s search for a winger has led them to Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, with the 21-year-old fitting the profile they are looking for. However, City are not willing to pay more than £50 million for him. (Sam Lee, The Athletic)

Manchester City are considering a formal approach for Michael Olise, and are thought to be willing to spend up to £50 million on the forward. (Ed Aarons)

Manchester City are ‘the most concrete possibility’ for Jeremy Doku at the moment. Talks are on and have intensified this week, but there is no offer and no negotiations with Stade Rennais at present. (Sacha Tavolieri)

Juanma Lillo is poised to return to Manchester City this summer. (Sam Lee, The Athletic)

Manchester City had two main targets for the transfer window: Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol. Declan Rice was targeted as a replacement for Ilkay Gundogan but City have been happy to stick with current options. (Sam Lee, The Athletic)

Departures

Carlos Borges to Ajax: The Dutch club are set to hijack West Ham’s deal to sign the City forward with a verbal agreement now in place. The player will be in Amsterdam for medical tests soon, sources close to Ajax have confirmed. (Fabrizio Romano)

Ajax have agreed a fee with Manchester City for Carlos Borges worth up to £17 million. City will retain a buy-back clause and a 20% sell on. (Simon Bajkowski)

PSG have ‘failed in all directions’ for two months in their pursuit of Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, and are now giving up. The Ligue 1 side tried ‘everything’, making two bids, with their most recent offer being for a €60 million move. (Alexis Bernard, Le10Sport)

PSG have given up on their attempts to sign Bernardo Silva, with Manchester City determined to keep the midfielder. (Jason Burt, The Telegraph)

It is not yet known whether Bernardo Silva will stay at Manchester City this summer. The Portugal international is key to City’s remaining plans, although it is not yet known whether he will play out wide or in the middle this season. (Sam Lee, The Athletic)

Kyle Walker has already rebuffed Manchester City’s attempts to agree a new contract as he wants to join Bayern Munich. The two clubs discussed a deal while in Japan, but there is no resolution in sight. A replacement may not be signed if Kyle Walker leaves City for Bayern. With John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Rico Lewis as options to play right-back, City appear happy with their numbers there. (Sam Lee, The Athletic)

It is possible Cole Palmer stays at Manchester City. The 21-year-old has been expected to find a temporary move. Palmer had a very good relationship with Juanma Lillo that may spark a revival and create another option on the right, which was the plan one year ago. (Sam Lee, The Athletic)

There has ‘simply been no movement’ over the past week or so regarding Kyle Walker and Bayern Munich. Negotiations with Manchester City have not had any advance, and the Premier League champions still want to keep the defender and extend his contract. (BILD)

Finley Burns has joined Stevenage on a season-long loan. (Official)
