The agent of Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan has denied recent reports that the German will sign a new deal at the Etihad Stadium.

Gundogan, who is out of contract at the end of the current campaign, could potentially play his last game for Manchester City in Istanbul on Saturday, when the Blues face Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League Final.

Recent reports had suggested that the 32 year-old was set to sign a new contract with Manchester City despite interest from Barcelona and Arsenal.

The City skipper scored another crucial brace for the club on Saturday, netting both goals against Manchester United in the Emirates FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.

Gundogan scored inside 12 seconds at the weekend with a sensational volley, and restored the Sky Blues’ lead in the 51st minute with a slick effort from outside the area.

The midfielder also helped Manchester City to a third consecutive Premier League title last month, scoring key goals against Leeds United and Everton during the latter stages of the campaign.

Gundogan has been consistently coy regarding his Manchester City future despite being able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club since January.

The German international has been heavily linked with La Liga champions Barcelona, while Arsenal are also claimed to be interested in signing the 32 year-old on a free transfer.

Gundogan was Pep Guardiola’s first signing at the Etihad Stadium in 2016, and in a bid to tie down the midfield star to a new deal, Jack Gaughan reports that the Blues have offered the City captain a more structured deal.

Meanwhile, Martin Blackburn reported that Gundogan was set to sign a new contract with the Premier League champions.

However, in a potential blow to Manchester City, Gundogan’s agent has refuted claims that his client is set to pen a new deal with the Blues.

“Nothing has been agreed with City or any other club,” Ilhan Gundogan exclusively told Fabrizio Romano.

“The recent reports are NOT true. Ilkay is only focused on the final.”

Manchester City are bidding the complete the treble next weekend and win their first UEFA Champions League when they play Inter Milan in the final in Turkey on Saturday night.

Gundogan has suffered defeat in his previous two Champions League final’s, losing with both Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund.
