Konstantinos Mavropanos helped VfB Stuttgart to a clean sheet over the weekend, with Arsenal fans starting to call for his return.

Arsenal loanee Konstantinos Mavropanos kept his place in the VfB Stuttgart starting lineup to face Werder Bremen on Sunday, and he helped them to a clean sheet in a 1-0 win.

The defender made one clearance, three interceptions, two tackles, and blocked one shot, as well as winning three of his four aerial duels. But he did just as well in possession, completing 83% of his passes including 6/11 long balls.

The performance earned Mavropanos a place in the Bundesliga Fantasy Team of the Week.

Arsenal fans took notice, perhaps particularly because of the poor performance against Liverpool the previous day, as well as David Luiz’s surgery. It looks like a centre-back might be a necessary addition this summer, and Mavropanos is certainly an option.

Mavropanos also recently made his senior international debut for Greece, and he’s on a run of 10 consecutive appearances in the Bundesliga without any injury setbacks. All encouraging news ahead of his return to North London this summer.
